ISTLab - SENSE (Software Engineering and Security)

The Information Systems Technology Laboratory (ISTLab) is established at the Department of Management Science and Technology of the Athens University of Economics and Business. ISTLab explores, researches, creates, formulates, and integrates engineering and management practices to increase the effectiveness of the information systems and their realisation and adoption process. The ISTLab - SENSE (Software Engineering and Security) group is headed by Diomidis Spinellis and aims to change the way software is developed, deployed, maintained, and used. The research streams of the SENSE group include: Software development tools and techniques, Quality and reusability of open source software, Safety, security, and availability of software systems, Peer to peer networks, Domain-specific languages and Stochastic optimisation algorithms and applications.

PLaSE - SWENG

The Programming Languages and Software Engineering Lab was founded on the January of 1998 and initially consisted of 4 members of the teaching and research staff of the Department of Informatics of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. PLaSE serves educational and research needs in the following fields: Intelligent Systems and Knowledge Processing, Machine Learning and Knowledge Discovery, Software Engineering, Operating Systems and Statistics and Operations Research. The Software Engineering Group belongs to the Programming Languages & Software Engineering Lab. The members of the group are interested in the research, development and teaching of software engineering in general, and, in particular, of all aspects related to the assessment of software characteristics, such as quality, cost, reliability, etc. The coordinator of the group is Associate Professor Ioannis Stamelos , while the director of the PLaSE laboratory is Professor Ioannis Vlahavas.

FORTH-ICS

The Foundation for Research and Technology - Hellas (FORTH) is the largest Greek State Research and Development Center. It consists of six Institutes; the Institute of Computer Science (ICS) is one of them. In its thirty-year history, FORTH-ICS has established itself as an internationally known and highly competitive research institute, with modern infrastructure and a broad range of research, development, and educational activities in computer science, computer engineering and in communications. FORTH-ICS is staffed by high quality personnel (Ph.D's, engineers, graduate student research assistants and undergraduate student trainees).
